Finally! My adoption records!

After almost a year in a half I received my adoption records from Michigan. I needed my biological mom’s permission. I did not receive my birth certificate yet. i will have to write to the judge for that. I have to say that it gave me a sense of identity. My original name was Christina Marie Cheesmond. it was very interesting to read the caseworker’s notes about when she visited me at my new family’s home during the probation period! My adopted parents wanted to also name me Christine so the caseworker advised against that. It was a closed adoption. I do not think an adult adoptee should have to do so much to get our own identity records. That needs to change!
